An interactive session on GIPS was arranged by the CFA Association of Pakistan in March 2007, at The Sheraton Hotel Karachi. The guest speaker at the occasion was Mr. Louis Boulanger, CFA, who had flown in from New Zealand for the presentation. Mr. Boulanger has participated actively in the ongoing development of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®), for over ten years. The objective of CFAAP in arranging this seminar was to educate the local market about the need and the benefits of adopting the GIPS principles.
To capitalize more on Louis’s visit to Pakistan, CFAAP collaborated with Mutual Funds Association of Pakistan (association of mutual fund managers) to arrange for a speaker session in Lahore. This was arranged at the Asia Oceania Regional Meeting of Associations of Mutual Funds, which was being hosted in Pakistan for the first time. A total of eleven countries from the region were being represented at the Conference. This helped in promoting GIPS among participants from all those countries.
